From the beginning, we could envisage our dream and our plans while people truly thought we were crazy! We drove on (excuse the pun) to build what we have today. A growing, unique outdoor activity that incorporates our beloved 4x4 Landrover Jeeps and the stunning setting of the Wild Atlantic Way.
From a young age, our father thought us to use our hands and have a ‘do it yourself’ mentality and by god did it save us money when Wild Atlantic Crusades was born. From driving all types of machinery, to all carpentry and mechanics, myself and Elliot were involved. Now, don’t get me wrong we’ve had plenty of fall-outs along the way but we always make amends and don’t let it get between us.
The business has tested our own personal relationships too, as with setting up a business you eat sleep and breathe it, and never shut up about it. Sorry Breffni and Tara! But there has to be a happy medium too and it took us time to figure out. Time off is just as productive and essential as your business. Family time at weekends, motivates me for the challenges and work in the week ahead.
For me, it’s all about balance. Even though our business is a family run business, once we leave the gates of Wild Atlantic Crusades you’re back being a brother, a father and husband/fiancée. That was one of the hardest things for us to overcome and we have to remember it. Or be reminded ha!
Our business works like a well-oiled machine and I think that’s down to us being a close nit family and having very dependable team. In the past year, WAC has hired four more employees, Joe and Nathan who specialise in team building and Bari and Mark who help out with groups on the track. We’ve had our tough times but the good times definitely our-weigh them and mixing family and business, for Wild Atlantic Crusades has been an advantage as we head into our 4th year of business.
